ProFix Quick Answers

Forti Nova supports ProFix projects through technical assessment, product supply and specification guidance across the Prokol range.

What it is

What is ProFix?

ProFix is a 1-component MS Hybrid Polymer product for fast and temporary repair of roof leaks on a wide variety of surfaces. It is classified for professional use. It is not a complete roof waterproofing membrane and does not replace planned condition assessment or refurbishment.

What it is used for

What types of local repair may ProFix suit?

Fast and temporary repair of roof leaks on a wide variety of surfaces. Substrate-specific requirements, preparation and application conditions must be confirmed from the current PDS before specifying.

Underwater application

Can ProFix be applied underwater?

Yes — ProFix can be applied underwater for suitable fast and temporary localised repairs where water cannot be fully removed before application. This does not make ProFix a permanent underwater lining, a below-ground waterproofing membrane or a universal immersion-resistant coating. Substrate compatibility must be confirmed from the current PDS.

What it is not

What is ProFix not designed to replace?

It is not a complete roof membrane, a full refurbishment specification, a structural repair material, a traffic surface, a permanent continuous-immersion lining or a solution for widespread coating failure.

Root-cause investigation

Must the cause of the defect be investigated?

Yes. ProFix seals a localised visible defect. It does not diagnose or resolve the underlying cause. Recurring or widening leakage, structural cracking and active movement all require investigation.

Documented substrates

What substrates are documented?

The manufacturer describes a wide variety of surfaces. A specific confirmed substrate list is not available from the current public documentation. Confirm from the current PDS before specifying.

Primer requirements

Is primer required before applying ProFix?

Primer requirements are not specified in the currently available public documentation. Confirm from the current PDS or contact the technical team before application.

Application conditions

What application conditions apply?

Specific temperature, humidity and weather window requirements are not stated in the currently available public documentation. Confirm from the current Product Data Sheet before use.

Repair or system?

When is a complete system more appropriate?

Where continuous waterproofing of a roof area is needed, existing membrane has widespread failure, insulation is saturated, or structural defects are present, a complete refurbishment system is required.

After a ProFix repair

What should follow a ProFix repair?

Commission a full substrate condition survey to determine the appropriate long-term waterproofing specification. ProFix provides fast and temporary repair — not a long-term programme substitute.

Product Role

Fast & Temporary. Localised. Roof Leak Repair.

ProFix occupies a precise role within the Prokol range: fast and temporary repair of roof leaks on a wide variety of surfaces. It is not a membrane system for open roof areas, not a substitute for complete refurbishment, and not a permanent immersion lining or universal emergency solution applicable to every defect type or substrate condition.

Localised Roof Leak Repair

ProFix is documented as a product for fast and temporary repair of roof leaks. The applicable scope, substrate types, preparation requirements and application method must be confirmed from the current Product Data Sheet before specifying.

Wide Variety of Surfaces

The manufacturer describes ProFix as suitable for a wide variety of surfaces. Specific substrate lists, compatibility requirements and primer guidance are not available in the current public documentation and should be confirmed from the current PDS.

Interim Protection Pending Assessment

Where a full refurbishment cannot be immediately mobilised, a fast and temporary repair product may provide interim protection. The underlying defect cause must still be investigated and a full assessment and refurbishment specification commissioned.

Professional Use Classification

The SDS classifies ProFix for professional users. Application by competent professional contractors is required. Technical assessment guidance, specification support and product supply are available through the Forti Nova technical team.

ProFix or a Complete Membrane System?

ProFix — Fast & Temporary Repair

For localised roof leak repair on a wide variety of surfaces where a fast and temporary repair is required pending full assessment or refurbishment. Confirm substrates, preparation and application conditions from the current PDS.

HBS200 / SprayGrade / Monoseal — Complete Systems

For continuous waterproofing of suitable roof areas, gutters and large surfaces where a full bonded membrane is required. Complete substrate assessment, preparation and system specification must precede application.

Sealing the Visible Defect Does Not Remove the Cause

A ProFix repair addresses a localised visible defect. It does not diagnose or resolve underlying substrate condition, structural movement, drainage failure, saturated insulation or widespread membrane breakdown. A full condition survey should follow once conditions permit. Inspection Checklist →

Suitability & Assessment

When is ProFix the right specification?

ProFix is appropriate where the scope is a localised roof leak defect requiring fast and temporary repair. It is not appropriate where the scope requires continuous waterproofing of a roof area, structural repair, or resolution of widespread coating or substrate failure.

Always Confirm

Substrate requirements, preparation, primer and application conditions must be confirmed from the current Product Data Sheet before specifying or applying ProFix.

Potentially Suitable

Subject to substrate condition, preparation, primer requirements and repair assessment. Confirm from current PDS.

  • Localised roof leak repair on suitable prepared surfaces
  • Wide variety of surfaces as documented by the manufacturer
  • Application underwater for suitable localised repairs, subject to substrate compatibility, preparation and the confirmed repair specification
  • Fast and temporary repair pending full condition assessment
  • Localised defects where a repair product is confirmed appropriate

Not Suitable Without Specific Confirmation

  • Continuous waterproofing of open roof areas
  • Replacement of a complete membrane specification
  • Structural defect repair or failed-substrate remediation
  • Widespread membrane or coating failure
  • Saturated insulation or build-up concealment
  • Traffic-bearing or wearing surfaces
  • Permanent continuous-immersion lining or chemical lining
  • Below-ground waterproofing membrane (full system)
  • Unresolved active joint movement or structural cracking
  • Repeat leaks where root cause is unresolved

Before Specifying ProFix

  • Confirm scope is localised — not full-area waterproofing
  • Confirm substrate from current PDS
  • Confirm primer requirements from current PDS
  • Confirm application conditions from current PDS
  • Assess whether root cause requires wider investigation
  • Establish interim or permanent role for this repair

After a ProFix Repair

  • Commission a full condition survey of the wider area
  • Determine whether a complete membrane system is required
  • Assess substrate moisture and structural integrity
  • Investigate repeat or nearby leakage
  • Plan refurbishment before the next exposure period
  • Do not rely on a temporary repair as long-term waterproofing

Possible Repair Failure Indicators

Observed symptoms requiring further investigation — not remote diagnoses.

Repair lifts at the edge

Possible contributing causes: contamination in the bonding zone, inadequate preparation, incompatible surface, or surface movement.

Required Investigation

Assess preparation quality, substrate compatibility and surface movement before reapplying.

Water ingress returns at or near the repaired area

Possible contributing causes: defect extends beyond the repaired area, active movement or cracking beneath the repair, or an adjacent unrelated defect.

Required Investigation

Commission a wider condition survey. The visible defect may not be the only ingress route.

Repair remains soft or does not achieve expected cure

Possible contributing causes: application temperature or humidity outside the specified range, contaminated substrate, or product outside shelf life.

Required Investigation

Confirm current application conditions from the PDS. Check product storage and age.
