SprayGrade may provide a programme advantage on suitable larger continuous areas where access, preparation, equipment, weather and site conditions support specialist spray application. Its two-component formulation is mixed and applied in a single pass using dedicated spray equipment. HBS200 may be more appropriate where hand application and close control around gutters, penetrations, upstands and complex details are advantageous.

Cracking at laps and ridges
Movement joints omitted or undersized. Thermal expansion not accommodated in specification.

Ingress at penetrations
Detailing incomplete at penetration junctions. Spray cannot provide adequate collar coverage on complex penetrations.

Application, Preparation and Detailing

Preparation quality determines membrane performance and warranty validity.

Weather and Environmental Controls
Spray application requires suitable dry weather and substrate conditions. Temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall risk and the required protection period must all be checked against the current technical documentation and project specification before application begins. Substrate moisture confirmed below threshold on application day
Moisture must be tested immediately before spray application — not at survey stage. Assessment method must be appropriate to the substrate type and project conditions.
Trained approved applicator
Warranty pathway requires trained and manufacturer-approved contractor application using appropriate spray equipment.
Movement joints specified and installed
Thermal and structural movement must be accommodated via correctly specified and installed movement joints before membrane application.
All penetrations and upstands fully detailed
Each penetration, upstand, parapet and drainage outlet detailed to the confirmed system specification — spray alone is insufficient at these junctions.
Full system build-up maintained
Coverage rates and coat sequence must comply with the confirmed specification throughout the application area.
Application records maintained
Documented cure conditions, coverage confirmation, substrate moisture readings and applicator records required as part of the warranty pathway.
