Suitability & Assessment

Substrates, Requirements & Exclusions

The following are PDS-documented substrate types and requirements. A surface being listed in the PDS does not eliminate the need to confirm condition, moisture content and preparation method before application.

PDS-Listed Substrates

Subject to substrate condition, moisture content and preparation confirmation from the current PDS.

  • Mineral / Cement-Bound Surfaces

Residual moisture content must not exceed 10% (PDS). Confirm preparation method from the current PDS and Surface Pre-treatment guidance.

  • Roughened Polyurethane

Existing polyurethane substrate must be roughened before application. Confirm preparation method from the current PDS and Surface Pre-treatment guidance.

  • Roughened Polyurea

Existing polyurea substrate must be roughened. Confirm preparation from the current PDS and pre-treatment guidance.

  • Roughened Epoxy

Existing epoxy substrate must be roughened. Confirm from current PDS and pre-treatment guidance before application.

Requires Separate Confirmation or Assessment

The following require separate confirmation, additional assessment or a different product specification.

  • Substrates Exceeding 10% Moisture Content

The current PDS states residual moisture content of mineral, concrete, or calcium sulphate substrates must not exceed 10%.

  • Evidence of Rising Moisture or Hydrostatic Pressure

Evidence of rising moisture, hydrostatic pressure or water ingress requires separate investigation before ProFast Flooring is specified. This is project-assessment guidance, not a verbatim PDS requirement.

  • Contaminated Surfaces Without Pre-treatment

Contaminated surfaces require correct pre-treatment. Confirm method from the current Surface Pre-treatment guidance before application.

  • Structural Defects or Active Cracking

Structural defects, active joint movement or substrate failure require separate investigation and remediation before surface coating.

  • Continuous Immersion or Waterproofing Applications

ProFast Flooring is a floor coating — not a waterproofing membrane for continuous immersion or below-ground waterproofing applications.

  • Chemical Service Before 3 × 24 Hours

Chemical resistance is achieved after 3 × 24 hours. The surface must not be returned to chemical service on the basis of the walkable milestone alone.

  • Mechanical Service and Loading

The PDS states mechanical resistance after approximately 2–3 hours under the stated conditions. The proposed load type, intensity and return-to-service programme must still be confirmed for the project.

Substrate Preparation — Confirm Current PDS and Pre-treatment Guidance

The PDS references a separate Prokol Surface Pre-treatment information sheet for detailed substrate preparation requirements. This sheet must be consulted before application. Contact the Forti Nova technical team to request the current pre-treatment guidance for your substrate type.

Mixing Instructions

1

Check Label for Mixing Ratio

The current PDS (rev. 27-10-2025) directs users to see the label on the packaging for the mixing ratio. Always take the mixing ratio from the current product label before mixing.

2

Mechanical Mixing Required

2-component products must always be mechanically mixed using a continuously adjustable mixing machine at low speed (300–400 RPM) or other suitable mixing equipment. The mixer diameter must be at least 1/3 of the container diameter. Avoid mixing too fast or too long to minimise air entrapment.

3

Mix Component A First

Mix component A until it is a homogeneous mixture before adding component B.

4

Add Component B

Add component B (completely drained or scraped) to component A. Mix for at least 2–3 minutes until homogeneous. Transfer to a clean mixing bucket and mix again to exclude unmixed material from the bottom and sides.

5

Additives Last

If using additives such as quartz sand, only add once the mixture is homogeneous. Mix thoroughly again after adding.

6

Apply in a Thin, Closed Layer

After mixing, apply a thin, closed layer using a brush or fleece roller. Then roll again with a 50 or 70 cm floor roller.
